Q. Why is marketing important to my business?

A. As you know, restaurants operate in a competitive environment. Gaining an edge over your competitors means investing time, energy and resources into marketing your business to customers, and most diners nowadays look to Web-based resources for information on when and where to dine. Rewards Network understands this. We also understand that running a restaurant is time-consuming and that creating time to formulate marketing strategies can be difficult. That's why we've been helping restaurant owners like you for more than 25 years.

 

Q. How does Rewards Network market my business?

A. We use a number of different tools to market your establishment, including a personalized Web page, emails, mobile marketing and social media. Your personalized Web page is hosted on our dining program Web sites. These pages provide customers with, among other details, your hours of operation, address, menu, how our members rate you, reviews and a brief, personalized description of what makes your establishment unique. The email marketing we do is geographically targeted, so members in your area can learn about you. We send tens of millions of emails each year (more than 107 million in 2009).  With mobile marketing, we provide both members and nonmembers the opportunity to find you with free dining applications for the iPhoneTM, BlackBerry®, and AndroidTMsmartphones. Finally, our social media efforts place you on a nationwide stage, exposing you to current and future customers from coast to coast.

 

Q. I already do print advertising. Is Rewards Network a good fit for me?

A. Absolutely! We have more than 3.3 million members dining in our 15 dining programs as of 12/31/2009). To reach these members, we invest millions of dollars each year into email, Web, social media and mobile marketing. We take marketing very seriously and use the latest technology and trends to market the locations on our program. You will not find another company that matches our experience, what we do or how we do it.

 

Q. What if I already manage a Web site for my location?

A. If you have an existing site, we'll help drive additional traffic by including a link to it on your personalized Rewards Network Web page. Millions of active diners use Rewards Network Web sites, emails, social media pages and mobile dining applications to help make their dining decisions.

 

Q. How much will it cost me for Rewards Network to market my business?

A. It depends. However, our success depends on yours. You are not obligated to pay us unless we drive our members to your location.

 

Q. What are diner incentives and what do they do for me?

A. Diner incentives offer extra rewards (cash back benefits, miles toward flights, credits toward hotel stays, and other) to our members to dine. Some added incentives also encourage people to join our dining programs. Basically, though, the extra diner incentives are designed to increase your exposure, your traffic, your spend per ticket and the amount of feedback you receive from our members—information you can use to improve your business.

Q. What is access to funds?

A. Rewards Network provides you with the opportunity to receive capital, which you can use for your business how you see fit.

 

Q. What can I do with the capital I receive from Rewards Network?

A. You can use the capital for your business however you see fit: Pay down expenses, fund a renovation, expand to a new location, buy new equipment, etc.

 

Q. How long does it take for the money to be deposited into my bank account?

A. Typically, if you are approved, you receive the money in your bank account a week after submitting the final paperwork.

 

Q. How much does it cost for me to receive capital from Rewards Network?

A. We're buying future dining transactions from you at a wholesale rate so the cost varies. You don't pay us unless our members dine at your establishment. To speak with us about our access to funds feature, please fill out the form to the right and a Rewards Network representative will contact you.

 

Q. How do I pay Rewards Network?

A. It's quite simple. When one of our members dines with you, we calculate a percentage of their ticket as payment. At the end of the month we add up the total amount and withdraw the funds from your account. There are no checks for you to write, and you don't have to train your staff. Plus, we send you a comprehensive monthly summary, outlining how many of our members dined with you, how much they spent and information they gave us about their experience.

 

Q. I don't need capital. Can I still sign up with Rewards Network?

A. Yes! Rewards Network offers services that focus entirely on marketing. (Web sites, emails, social media and mobile marketing.)

Q. Which data do you collect about members who dine at my establishment?

A. The data we collect when our members dine with you includes how much our members spent, when they dined, if it was their first time there or if they'd been there before, how much our members spent compared to your nonmember customers, and much, much more. We send you weekly, monthly and quarterly reports of this aggregate data (taking care to remove all personally identifiable information about our members).

 

Q. Why is this information important to me, and what can I do with it?

A. This information is important for many reasons. First, it shows how our marketing efforts are benefiting your business. On top of that, it provides you with a comprehensive look at the dining and spending behavior of some of your customers. As such, you can use this information to make business decisions that will lead to increasing your ticket sales, and to creating loyal customers.

 

Q. How often will I receive reports from Rewards Network that outline dining and spending behavior?

A. We send you weekly, monthly and quarterly reports. The quarterly reports contain the most data, with easy-to-understand charts and graphs, member feedback, spend amounts by dining program and much more.

Q. Why is member feedback important to my business?

A. No restaurant owner likes to be told his or her service stinks, but listening to constructive criticism is necessary to improving a business. Plus, it's nice to receive complements once in a while! You can also respond to some of the feedback you receive.

 

Q. How do I respond to feedback?

A. Rewards Network has an easy-to-use online response tool that allows you to respond to a member who's written in with feedback about your establishment. This tool is an incredible opportunity to listen to your customers' concerns and complements, right any wrongs and build relationships that motivate them to dine with you in the future.

 

Q. Do Rewards Network members have to dine at my restaurant before they can rate their experience?

A. Yes. We don't allow people who haven't dined with you to rate and review your location.

 

Q. How do members submit feedback after they dine with me?

A. After a member has visited a location on our program, we send them a thank you email reminding them of their dine and how much they earned. This email also prompts them to complete a post-dine survey, where members can rate your food, service and a number of other things. There's also a box where members can submit written feedback.

 

Q. How do I get this feedback?

A. We know it's important to get customer feedback in a timely manner. After a member dines at your restaurant and their survey has been submitted, we send you an email if they have left written feedback. That email also shows the average ratings you have received. You can also go to your details page and see the ratings and reviews as a member sees it.

 

Q. How does Rewards Network use this feedback?

A. The ratings members submit when they fill out post-dine surveys get averaged out. These numbers then go on your personalized Web page, which assist other members in making their dining decisions. As for the reviews we receive, most of them are posted on your personalized Web page.

A. You have the option of joining iDine, our cash back benefits dining program, as a member anytime for free at iDine.com. However, as a participating client, you can join the Client Appreciation Program and receive higher benefits than a typical member. Clients can sign up for the Client Appreciation program by visiting iDine.com/merchant - you will need your Client ID to join this program.  You can also join one of our partner programs at RewardsNetwork.com/dining.html.

 

Q. How do I know which customers are from Rewards Network?

A. We send you weekly, monthly and quarterly reports that show you which tickets were from our members (taking care to remove all personally identifiable information about our members). These reports also have a number of other benefits, including showing you if they're a new or repeat diner, how much they spent, where they're from and more.

 

Q. Do I have to change payment card processors in order to join Rewards Network?

A. Probably not. Rewards Network works with most of the payment card processing companies in the industry.
