With more than 10,000 restaurant clients — and a hundreds-strong staff of salespeople on the ground managing their accounts and recruiting more — the process of organizing and maintaining all of the records created is daunting, to say the least.
Luckily, we have a team of specialists that diligently ensure there’s a dot above every “i” — and a happy client behind every contract. For our third installment of our Meet Our Employees series, we’re proud to introduce an important member of that team, Ayanna Ware, our Contract Operations Specialist for the Midwest, Rocky Mountains, and Southeast regions.
How did you end up here at Rewards Network?
This is a funny story … I had just moved to Denver, and I got a knock on my door from my neighbor, who said, “I’m getting ready to leave this company called [Rewards Network], and I’m trying to find my replacement, are you interested?” This was back in 2002. I was trying to find a job, but I was literally on the couch and this fell into my lap. Who said you can’t find a job sitting on your butt, right?
And then in 2011, the [company] decided to centralize and have all of the support people under the same roof … I happened to be in a position where I was able to move to Chicago, so I did, and ended up here.
Your job has expanded quite a lot since then, too. What kind of work do you do, day-to-day?
Oh … gosh, a lot. I can tell you our main function, but I feel like when I think about all the other stuff, that’s actually the least of everything. Our main thing is we gather all the documents from the sales team as they’re out there selling and signing contracts. We then put them into the system and get them over to Due Diligence (DD). Then DD does their final review to see if we can approve [the restaurants] for money and how much and all that. Then we get [those forms] back and enter them into [the system] and get the restaurant their funding. We do the sort of finishing process.
[And], you know the salespeople have a lot of questions, all the in-between things with clients, like amendments, when they want to make changes to their deals, we receive those amendments and process those. We’re pretty much their go to, we’re their support person.
So you spend a lot of time interacting with our team on the ground — you must be a real people person!
I like people; I’m so shy though! [Laughs] This position is perfect for me because I’m always talking to the salespeople one-on-one, I really love it. They’re fun, they’re full of personality. And I find them to be very appreciative. My favorite part of my job is working in such a high-energy, fun atmosphere.
What do you do when you’re not here having fun with our sales staff?
I recently got married. When I met my husband, he had three children, so now I’m a new mommy. We have twin girls, they are 9 … and we have a son, he’s a year older, he just turned 10.
I just enjoy time with my family. We’re always looking for fun things for them to do. One weekend we might go to Six Flags, the next Medieval Times, and the next weekend it’s a birthday party, so our schedule is pretty jam-packed.
